My path to becoming a designer was unconventional. I studied Computer Science, worked as an IT Business Analyst at a major bank in Indonesia, then started teaching myself UI/UX Design – a shift that started as a side project. This journey has given me a gold trifecta: I understand tech requirements, business needs and opportunities, and user needs.
Over 4 years of experience working at a Jakarta software house, I’ve delivered mobile and web products across Fintech, Loyalty, Insurance, and Entertainment and also built OpteraOne, a product of Akar Inti Teknologi where I designed both the Asset Management System and the Product Resource Center. Working both in project and product environment has sharpened my sense of adaptability and prioritization, in ways that working solely in project-based work doesn’t. Most recently, I designed a 5-star-rated insurance app with 220+ reviews across Google Play and App Store that streamlined the purchase flow from a desktop-first to a native mobile experience.
I believe that good design is invisible – once the user has to stop and think about what they’re looking at, they’re not focusing on their main goal. My job is to make a seamless yet guided experience for all users.
I have a slight obsession with reading one-star reviews. And it’s not just on the product I’m working on. I’ll go down Reddit threads, TikTok comments, even Google reviews because the way people describe their frustration is really fascinating to me.
